Stats:

David Quinn said after the game (NYR Game Notes):

  • The Rangers had a good first period, gave the Bruins too many opportunities in the second period and the focus in the locker room after two was to just move past it and not let it impact the third.
  • The PP goal was “huge” after it was “inept” for most of the night
  • On DeAngelo, “Tony has high end skill and the areas he will continue to grow and develop in are his defense and faceoff coverage and when to get involved offensively and when not to. Maybe playing a little faster on the offensive blue line and transition but he is a talented player and fun to watch him play and take advantage of his opportunity.”
  • Do you like how DeAngelo plays on the edge, “absolutely. I want him pushing the envelope as far as he can without letting it get in the way of his performance and being a detriment to our team or himself. Marchand is as good as there is in the league. I’d take 100 Marchands. You gotta play with an edge, you gotta have a swagger, personality but you can’t let it get in the way of letting you be the player you are capable of being or hurting the team. I think Marchand went through that early in his career, I think Tony is going through that. Those are guys you want on your team, with an attitude and swagger.”
