They were hot after him and gives us a chance to bring another young player up to develop and move forward. It made a lot of sense, we got another asset and we are trying to accumulate those. McLeod was picked up off of waivers last season by the Rangers from Nashville.

Adam Rotter: McLeod’s purpose with the Rangers this season was to be a veteran leader, bring toughness, energy and fight if needed. He was effective at times before getting injured but he wasn’t getting many minutes and his spot was needed for someone else. A 2020 7th round pick is better than losing McLeod on waivers for nothing and could be used at this draft or not to move up in the later rounds if a player they like is falling.
