What David Quinn said after the loss to the Pens

David Quinn met with the media following the Rangers loss to the Pens and said (NYR Game Notes):

  • “we weren’t able to sustain all the good things we did in the first period, to go up 2-0 and give one right back, not build anything off that lead was part of the issue. Even after the first we felt good about the score and the way we played and for them to tie it so quickly really seemed to deflate us and we never got back on track, back to doing the things we did in the first period.”
  • On Vinni Lettieri, “it means to him what it means to a lot of our guys, everyone is auditioning for next year, him obviously being a younger guy and in the situation he is in, probably moreso but I’ve liked his purpose, his intentions. He had a good night on the PP and played more of a straight line game and made some progress defensively. Those are things he will have to continue to work on and be consistent with in his game night in and out.”
  • On Georgiev, “I thought he was solid, we are accustomed to watching him play great and I think he would be the first to tell you it wasn’t a great night for him but that being said he was the least of our problems tonight.”
