Adam Rotter:

  • This was a nice bounce back game for the Rangers, especially since they lost on Monday to a team right next to the Red Wings in the standings.
  • The Red Wings put some pressure on at times but Henrik Lundqvist was there and excellent in his first start since the loss to Boston.
  • The Rangers got scoring from throughout the lineup, in all situations and looked a lot more like the team they showed they could be in the wins over Tampa and Nashville. They were opportunistic, capitalized off Detroit mistakes and when the Rangers made mistakes, Henrik Lundqvist was there.
  • Adam Fox continues to impress with the plays he makes to get the Rangers out of their zone, the plays he makes to keep the puck in the offensive zone and how he gets the puck to the net and QBs the PP.
  • Lias Andersson sat but he will be back in, maybe not tomorrow since McKegg scored, but soon enough. He’s not going to sit for a while but if he was sitting for a prolonged stretch he would go to Hartford and play there. The Rangers think having him up with them is more beneficial than being in Hartford, so we will see how it plays out over the next few days and weeks.
  • Carolina will be a much tougher opponent and the Ranger will need to be tighter in their structure and better in all areas.
