From the Rangers Prospect Reports since Barron was drafted:

  • 10/30/17: “He has a combination of NHL-like size and skating ability, along with good hands and a sense of the game. He has a strong work ethic and plays with determination.” – Rangers Amateur Scout Rich Brown on Morgan Barron
  • 11/12/18: “He’s a prototypical power forward with great hockey sense and compete level. He’s developing a more consistent game, and in time, he will develop into a great prospect for the Rangers.” – Cornell Head Coach Mike Schafer on Morgan Barron
  • 3/11/19: “This kid is a throwback. He wants to earn everything he gets. There’s no doubt in my mind that Morgan will play for the Rangers.” – Cornell Head Coach Mike Schafer on Morgan Barron
  • 3/25/19: “We played on a line together last year, (and) I can notice a change (this year). He’s definitely got a lot faster (and) bigger, and his shot has gotten a lot better; he’s more confident in his shot.” – Cornell forward Cam Donaldson on teammate Morgan Barron
  • 11/11/19: “He’s a great, great leader, along with our other captains. But he also does it on the ice, and that’s what you want your leaders to do … they gotta perform — they can’t just speak the words, but they got to come out and they got to execute.” – Cornell Head Coach Mike Schafer on Morgan Barron (Credit: Cornell Daily Sun)
  • 11/11/19: “He was flat-out a beast tonight, winning puck battles — and the way he can shoot the puck.” – Cornell Head Coach Mike Schafer on Morgan Barron regarding Barron’s hat trick/four-point game on Nov. 9 (Credit: Cornell Daily Sun)
  • 2/17/20: “I call him a throwback. As a kid, he’ll do anything, as a coach, that you’ll ask. He’s a coach’s dream. What I mean by that is he wants constructive things. He wants to work on things as a player. He’s very cerebral. … That kind of leadership, that drops down to everybody else. Other guys are looking at, when one of the better players on your team has that kind of mentality it’s infectious. He’s humble, he works hard, he’s a gamer, a good teammate. I think that’s what makes him an outstanding prospect.” – Cornell Head Coach Mike Schafer on Rangers prospect Morgan Barron (Credit: The Athletic)
