Stats:

Adam Rotter:

  • This looked a lot like what it was, the first game for these teams in months. The disjointed and sloppy play early, on both sides, was to be expected but things started to look normal, in terms of pace, as the game went on.
  • He didn’t get a lot of work but I think Igor Shesterkin will start on Saturday against Carolina. Henrik Lundqvist was solid tonight, but you just get the feeling that Shesterkin starting tonight means that he will start Game 1.
  • Kaapo Kakko certainly looked stronger, faster and like someone who has taken a step forward from where he was most of the season. He was starting to produce when the season went on pause and he looks poised to continue you that and make an impact as, to start, a secondary scorer for the Rangers.
  • Next up is the real thing as the Rangers will open up the Qualifying Round on Saturday at 12PM.
