What David Quinn said following the loss to the Isles

David Quinn met with the media following the loss to the Isles, on MSG, and said:

  • On the game, “tonight we knew that playing the Islanders was going to be hard and if we are going to be successful and have a chance to be more productive offensively we’ve gotta get inside more, we’ve gotta be harder. Some guys are obviously still finding their way now but overall I thought it was another step forward.”
  • Is Staal in jeopardy of missing Saturday, “No, that was more precautionary.”
  • On Chytil, Kakko, “I liked Kakko’s game, I liked Fil’s game. I thought they continued what we’ve seen over the last 2-and-a-half weeks. I liked their pace and thought they did some good things tonight.”
  • On the transition game, “I thought our transition game slowed down in the second half of the game, they did a good job bottling us up in the neutral zone. We didn’t play fast enough. From our end it was a tale of two games, maybe the first 30-minutes we were pretty good and after that I thought our play dropped.”
  • On the goalies, “I thought they were pretty good, we only gave up two goals. These guys are good goalies and we will need everybody to have success and achieve some of the goals we want to achieve this year. They both deserved to play half the game.”
