Igor Shesterkin in net on Tuesday against the Devils

3:20PM: David Quinn spoke after practice and said (NYR):

  • Is Panarin available for tomorrow, “He didn’t skate this morning, we will see how he feels tomorrow morning.”
  • On K’Andre Miller, “he’s day to day as well, we will know a lot more tomorrow morning on both him and Artemi, just took him off for precautionary reasons and a clearer picture tomorrow morning.”

  • On preparing for the Devils when they haven’t played in two weeks, “it really hasn’t affected us at all, we are just going about our business, doing what we need to do to improve our team. Goal scoring has been an issue, power play has struggled, we worked on those things today. What the opponent is doing and how they are practicing and how many guys they have, how many times they’ve practiced, that has really nothing to do with how we approach it. It’s a unique situation for everybody in the league this year. We’ve been very fortunate, so far, avoiding a situation where we are in the situation they are in, and Philly for that matter, we expect a lineup that is hungry to go. You saw what happened when Dallas sat out for a long time, they came back and got off to a great start. We don’t put a lot of stock on what is going on with the other end of things because we know we are going to see an opponent that is ready to play.”
  • On K’Andre, “it’s upper body and we took him off for precautionary reasons, so we will see how he feels tomorrow.”
  • What are Panarin’s chances of playing if he hasn’t skated, “unless he comes in tomorrow champing at the bit and takes a pre-game skate, then the chances are zero he’ll play. If he comes back and feels really good and wants to skate in the morning and feels good, then we will make a decision then, that won’t mean he will definitely play, but there will be a conversation.”
  • On Blackwell with Kreider and Zibanejad, “What I like about him with everybody is that he plays hard every shift, gets inside, has some skill to compliment that work ethic and he’s made every line a little bit better, no matter what line we put him on. We’ll see how it goes.”
  • On injury updates, “Jack has made a lot of progress, he’s  certainly coming on, we are hoping he will practice some time soon in the next few days and Fil keeps getting better, still the 4-6 week window. We are creeping up on that fourth week.”
