Igor Shesterkin in net against the Devils

1:04PM: David Quinn spoke after the morning skate and said (NYR):

  • Will Panarin play, “yea, that was just a maintenance thing, he’ll be ready to go tonight.”
  • What has been hard about playing the Devils and Sabres, “I know they may not have a lot of name recognition players in their lineups, but they still have good players that are competing. I’ve always said that our sport is the most effort driven sport, you gotta have maximum effort in every sport but because our game is played in such a small area. I mean effort can overcome a lot of things and if there is the slightest drop in effort from one team and the other team continues to have an uptick with effort, that can overcome a lot in our game. The Devils play hard, play fast, they have good players in their lineup even thought they may be young ones and not experienced, they still have good players, as does Buffalo. I know they don’t have a lot of proven players that people recognize, it’s still a challenge for whoever plays these teams and it’s going to be a big challenge tonight.”
  • On Zac Jones, “It’s hard because you don’t have all these practices to evaluate him and you want to put him in a situation where he’s going to have success. Obviously these games are very meaningful for us, we are in a playoff battle, but you have a guy who can really skate, great hockey IQ, competes, there is a lot to love about him and that is why we like him in our organization, but this is the NHL and you don’t just take someone and drop them in the lineup. They have to earn it and give you reason to put him in. We are just gonna watch him and if it seems to be the right move and he gives us a chance to win hockey games, he’ll go in. We won’t hesitate to put him in there if we think he can help us win.”
  • Who is your goalie, “Shesty is our goalie.”
  • Any lineup changes, “no, it will be the same lineup.”
