2020-21 Rangers

Igor Shesterkin starting on Saturday

4:10PM: David Quinn spoke this morning and said (NYR):

  • How do you think the team has stayed focus against NJ, “I liked our focus and start last night, that is for sure, I thought we were ready to play at the drop of the puck which has been a little bit of an inconsistent issue for us lately. I’ve said this before, especially after the deadline and how the season is unfolding, these games against NJ and Buffalo will go a long way in determining who is going to make the playoffs and if you take anybody lightly or for granted you are going to be on the wrong side of it and we’ve seen it here in the last week or so. We are certainly expecting their best tomorrow. I thought we were very opportunistic early on and they had chances to get back in it in the second period and our goalie made some big saves, that certainly isn’t lost on us and we know we are going to have to play a more complete game tomorrow afternoon.”

  • Does Igor start tomorrow, “It will be Igor tomorrow.”
  • On Kravtsov’s goal being called off, “Disappointed for him for sure, but it was the right call.  You see a guy, everybody watches the skill set he has, he’s gonna score plenty of goals in this league and I kind of joked with him that he gets to experience that twice now, you thought you had your first goal and experienced the euphoria of it, but the next one he will get to do it again, that is the silver lining in it.”
  • Do you have any concerns with Panarin physically, “No.”
  • What are you seeing from Igor, “His confidence, he really seems unflappable, aggressive yet not over aggressive. There is a real calmness to him, he’s incredibly quick, anticipates the play well and certainly seems to be in that zone that a goalie can get into when they are playing well.”

11:30AM: The Rangers have announced that Igor Shesterkin will start for the Rangers on Saturday. (NYR)
