2022 New York Rangers Playoffs

Updates from the Rangers on Tuesday

Ryan Lindgren did not practice today. (NYR)

Gerard Gallant spoke after practice and said (NYR):

  • Was there an overall message to the team, “yep.”
  • Care to share it, “(laugh) you know what the message is.”
  • Is Lindgren okay, “day-to-day. Nothing changed.”
  • Did he skate on his own, “day-to-day. Nothing changed.”

  • On Shesterkin being a Vezina finalist, “I didn’t see that yet, but that is awesome. I think we all knew that was going to happen with the year he had. It’s awesome and outstanding for him and we are really happy for him, he had an outstanding year and I fully expect him to win it.”
  • What did you try to accomplish during this short practice, “get back to our work ethic, our straight, up and down game. We had a great regular season, second best in goals against average and get back to that. We can’t give up seven goals and expect to win.”
  • Why hasn’t the forecheck been effective, “Very limited forecheck, that is the problem. We are a good forechecking team, we do a good job when we’re forechecking and obviously the last two games we didn’t do much of it. We spent more time in the d-zone and ran into trouble.”
  • Do you think you are getting enough shots to test Domingue, “not even close, not even close. We talk about putting pucks to the net and we show some good goal scoring that we do around the net and then we try and get cute and fancy. Like I said, it’s a straight, direct hockey game. Keep it going to the net, keep people at the net and we are trying the other stuff.”
  • Do you need your top guys to lead, “need everybody, they have to be our best players to win and they know that. The kids will follow them. It starts at the top.”
  • Do you think you have to change anything with the lineup, “I don’t think I need to change anything, I might change something, but I don’t have to. We are what we are, we just gotta play well and play our game and we can’t be loose like we were last night and expect to win hockey games.”
  • Were the line switches last night just for a spark, “yea.”
