2022-23 Rangers Regular Season

What Gerard Gallant said after the loss in Seattle

Gerard Gallant met with the media following the OT loss to Seattle and said (MSG/NYR):

  • On the game, “first period was great, second period was awful and the third period was pretty even. There was some good stuff, but some bad stuff in the second period that we got away from what we did in the first period.”

  • Do you feel you have to get two points when Shesterkin plays like that, “definitely, he was good, made some great saves and key saves, especially in the second period when it was 1-1. He kept us in the game and we found a way to get a point at the end, but not good enough. We’re better than that.”
  • Do you feel there is enough happening at even strength, “in the first there was, in the first I really liked it and we talked about that between periods, ‘it was great, keep the same thing going’ and then the second period we get away from our game, start playing in front of them instead of behind them and you see what happens. Shots were 16-4 in the second period because we turned pucks over. We’re not satisfied with what we’ve done in the first.”
  • On being different teams in different periods a lot of the time, “I don’t know…I don’t know if it’s a lot, but it definitely came up tonight. It’s disappointing because…I thought the first period could be the toughest period for us on this road trip, to be honest with you, and we played great. It’s disappointing the way we played in the second.”
