2022-23 Rangers Regular Season

What Gerard Gallant said after the win over Chicago

Gerard Gallant met with the media following the win over Chicago and said (NYR):

  • What have you seen during the winning streak, “well, we are playing ‘find a way to win’ hockey games and I think we are playing as a group, four lines, six D-men and the goaltender that is playing that night is playing good solid hockey. You get on a little roll and things start to happen. We weren’t getting much puck luck the first part of the season and now we are getting a lot more of it.”

  • What has gone right for you, the defense or the increased scoring, “It’s been a combination of both. We had trouble scoring the first part of the season and now we are getting more goals and obviously the defense has been real good and goaltending has been excellent”
  • On The Kid Line getting things going early on, “We were flat the first seven, eight minutes, which we expect after back-to-back games. Usually the first 10 minutes is the toughest part to get going and after that I thought we played really good, but they were a big part of it tonight, for sure.”
  • On putting Kravtsov with Zibanejad and Panarin, “Yea, he made me look good (laugh). When we lost Chytil we started mixing and matching some lines and different things. It was good for him to get that goal, good confidence for him.”
  • Any update on Chytil, “I never heard nothing, upper body, he’ll be day to day and we’ll find out more tomorrow, probably.”
  • On Trouba’s goal, “I agree, that was a big goal because they made it 3-1 and then they had two unbelievable shifts in our zone and the Trouba goal was big for our group.”
