Gerard Gallant met with the media following the Rangers win over Florida and said (NYR, MSG):
- On finding a way after a little bit of a slow start, “A little bit of a slow start? (smile) Three shots wasn’t good enough in the first, but we had a day and a half off with no ice, no morning skate. It was a tough start, but after that I thought we played real well.”
- On The Kid Line, “they were excellent, all three kids scored a goal tonight and played real well. When they play like that it’s pretty exciting, they attack and were a big part of our win tonight.”
- More on The Kid Line, “If I didn’t notice that I shouldn’t be coaching in this league (laugh), everybody in the building noticed it. They were excellent, played really well and they were real confident tonight and it was great to see.”
- On Patrick Kane getting his 450th goal, “He’s scored a lot of points, so he’ll take it. I thought the line was good in the second and third period, they made some real good plays, had good time of possession in the offensive zone, thought they were real good and he’s had an unbelievable career with the Stanley Cups and the player he is. I just hope he’s got a little bit left here for us in the next three months and we get one of those chances with him, too. He’s been outstanding for us.”
- On swapping the wingers for a time, “Just trying something different. It was a stale first period, so just threw them out there and it was okay.”
- On defending a third period lead, “did a lot of real good things, kept everybody going, we played four lines and they managed the puck real well, I was really happy with the way they held onto the lead and the way we played. Even after they got the third goal right after we scored the fourth, it was good, good effort.”
