What Gerard Gallant said after the Rangers were eliminated

Gerard Gallant met with the media following the Rangers elimination in Game 7 and said (MSG):

  • Did you just never get to the game you wanted to play tonight, “It was 0-0 for the longest time, thought that was in our favor. They were forechecking and had some good chances, but Shesty was real good and then that first one was a tough one to give up, obviously, and after that, the rest of the second period, I thought we gave up too much, 2-on-1s, odd-man rushes and then they got that second goal and that was tough.”

What Gerard Gallant said after the win in Game 6

Gerard Gallant met with the media following the win in Game 6 and said (MSG):

  • On the game, “real good, I thought Jersey came out early in the game and took it to us a little bit the first 4-5 shifts and after that I thought we played real good hockey. Big guys stepped up, big difference.”
  • On Shesterkin, “he was outstanding, again.”
  • Was that the response you were looking for, “definitely, they battled hard, competed hard, went to the blue paint and got some goals. When your backs are against the wall you play your best game and I thought they did tonight.”

Updates from the Rangers on Friday

3PM: Gerard Gallant spoke after practice and said (NYR):

  • How are you feeling today, “I feel good…besides this chest cold.”
  • What do you need more of, “more goals, obviously. First two games were great, five goals, five goals and then we’ve got two in the last three. We just gotta get more people there, I thought we had some decent chances and Schmid made some saves, I thought that it was his best game because I thought we had some chances against him…but just gotta get more goals and….again, we played our best hockey the last couple of years with our backs against the wall, so hopefully we’ll be ready to come out. It was good, I like the way the guys were today, nobody is down, just get up and be ready to play our best game.”
