Jack Eichel

What Buffalo is reportedly looking for in exchange for Jack Eichel

7/1/21 | Darren Dreger was on Buffalo radio on Wednesday and said “I would wonder what sort of stomach the Buffalo Sabres have for moving Eichel to the NY Rangers, but at the end of the day if the Rangers are presenting the best package, the best return then you gotta consider it. It’s about getting the best return, not worrying about what Jack Eichel is going to do with the next club. The Rangers definitely have the pieces, I think they are a little uncomfortable with the cap hit, they’ve got Mika Zibanejad who is probably a more complete player, he doesn’t have the star power that Eichel has offensively speaking, but we know he’s a real good 200ft player.”

6/28/21 | Larry Brooks writes in the NY Post that the Rangers have had “preliminary” talks with the Sabres about Jack Eichel’s health and his availability in a trade.

Brooks writes that the Sabres are seeking four pieces that “would be equivalent of first-rounders” for Eichel. (NY Post)

2020-21 Rangers, Gerard Gallant

What Gerard Gallant said about his style, young players, the rebuild, captains and more

Gerard Gallant was on the NHL Network on Wednesday and said:

  • On coaching and systems, “there is no doubt, it’s a fine line with what you are going to do with your team. I’ve always coached pretty much the same way, but you gotta make little adjustments with your personnel, there is no doubt about that. I believe in playing a fast game of hockey, being aggressive on your forecheck. Part of the NHL is being a good traffic team and defensive team, but I think it all starts with the talented group that we’ve got, I think if we are on offense first and you work hard playing defense you will be fine. I think our group is going to play a very fast game up and down the ice, working hard at both ends of the rink and that is how you win championships, you’ve gotta play both ends of the rink, work hard, and be committed.”
