The Rangers have announced that they have come to terms with RFA winger Vinni Lettieri.
He has an NHL salary and cap hit of $700,000, a salary of $100,000 in the minors and an overall guaranteed salary of at least $150,000. (Cap Friendly)
Lettieri, 24, was arbitration eligible but did not file. His qualifying offer was $874,125.
He played in 27 games for the Rangers last season, scoring 1 goal and 2 assists with a minus 7 rating and an average of 10:09 per game.
He played 19 games for the Rangers in 2017-18, scoring once and adding four assists, a minus 12 rating and 12:03 per game.
Lettieri had 40 shots on goal last season and 29 in 2017-18.
He has 46 goals and 39 assists in 112 career AHL games with 23 goals and 25 assists in 48 games last season.
Adam Rotter: Lettieri is proving to be an effective AHL scorer but it’s unlikely he is going to get a real shot with the Rangers to see if he can become a regular NHLer. Lettieri shoots the puck and has some nice offensive instincts but there are just so many forwards ahead of him on the depth chart that, unless there are tons of injuries or he has just the greatest training camp/preseason ever, there are no spots for him in the top-nine or the PP. As the Rangers look to create a better and winning atmosphere in Hartford it helps to have players like Lettieri that can score but it won’t be surprising if at some point in the first couple of months of next season the Rangers move him in a one-for-one trade to a team where he might have a better chance at being an NHLer.
