3:22PM: Frank Seravalli of TSN tweets that the Rangers are believed to be closing in on signing Michigan State forward Patrick Khodorenko.

Khodorenko, 21, is an undrafted free agent with 54 goals and 66 assists in four-years and 143 games at Michigan State.

He was teammates with Adam Fox and Ryan Lindgren at the US National Program in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

His coach with the US Program, Danton Cole, said “he’s very strong and is a deceptive skater; when we do our testing, he’s one of our fastest guys in short bursts. Offensively, he has a lot of talent, he sees the ice real well.” (CA Rubber Hockey)

His teammate at the US Program, Robby Jackson said “he can do it all, he has an effortless stride and great hands, like a young Pavel Datsyuk. There’s so much he can do with the puck it’ll drop your jaw. (CA Rubber Hockey)

Scott Wheeler wrote in The Athletic in 2018, “he’s a heavy centre who is fine in his own zone, but he’s not going to overwhelm anyone with his offensive presence, or his ability to score.”
