The Rangers have signed defenseman Matt Bartkowski to a PTO. (Cap Friendly)

Bartkowski, 34, is a left-shot defenseman and has 256 games of NHL experience.

He played last season with the Penguins AHL team.

He last played in the NHL in 2020-21 when he played one game for Minnesota. He hasn’t played more than 25 games in an NHL season since 2015-16 when he was with Vancouver.

Adam Rotter: I’m not sure Bartkowski poses much of a threat to either Zac Jones or Libor Hajek in their likely battle for the spot next to Braden Schneider, but he’s another body in camp and a veteran. Bartkowski could be a seventh defenseman option if the Rangers decide to carry one or another option in Hartford for depth.
