6:33PM: Gerard Gallant spoke about the new lines, Gustav Rydahl being sent down and Kaapo Kakko today:
- On the lines, “We don’t look at the lines and say that is is going to be our last lineup before the regular season games. We tweaked it a little bit today and management wants to see some different people in different spots. That is basically where it goes. It means not a whole lot, obviously, we’ll make a final decision tomorrow on the lineup for the last game. Just threw some things out there today…didn’t spend a lot of time on it, to tell you the truth.”
- On Rydahl being sent down, “I didn’t talk to him, Dru talks to all the guys. We’re real happy with him. He’s a guy that can go on waivers and we’ve got a lot of issues right now with our roster…no, he doesn’t have to go on waivers, that is what I meant. He’s a guy that came here and that we really liked. He did a real good job, go down there and get used to the North American size arena and play there and get some real good confidence. We liked everything he brought and for a guy that we didn’t know at all, very impressed with him. He might be a guy that sees some time up here. Everybody was pleased with what they saw.”
- On Kaapo Kakko’s training camp, “Kaapo…been excellent, I thought. He’s been real good, played well, looks confident. Real good.”
- Do his goals last night help his confidence, “I don’t think it means a lot for certain players, I think it means a lot with Kaapo, definitely, for sure. If Chris Kreider scores two goals last night I don’t think it means a whole lot, but for Kaapo, I think it means a lot.”
