Larry Brooks tweets that the Rangers have also fired assistant coaches Mike Kelly and Jim Midgley.
Kelly has been with Gerard Gallant since Gallant coached in the QMJHL.
Midgley had previously been a coach in the QMJHL.

Gord Murphy’s future will be determined by the next head coach. Murphy has been with the Rangers as both an assistant with Hartford and in the NHL since 2019. (Brooks)
Adam Rotter: These were all expected. Kelly and Gallant are a package deal, Midgley was an obscure choice as an assistant coach and another long-time friend of Gallant. Murphy was someone Chris Drury hired to assist Kris Knoblauch in Hartford and so it isn’t surprising that he will at least get the chance to stick around and interview with the next coach.
