The Rangers have announced that following his setback on Friday, Filip Chytil will miss the rest of the 2023-24 season.
The Rangers statement was “following a thorough evaluation of Filip Chytil after his recent setback from an upper body injury, it has been confirmed he will be out for the remainder of this season. The organizations top priority throughout this process has been Filip’s health and we will continue to fully support him in his recovery with an aim to return for the 2024-25.
Chytil is currently on LTIR. CapFriendly says that with Chytil on LTIR the Rangers will have $5.237 in cap space for the deadline if the Rangers keep their current 21-man roster.
Adam Rotter: This is brutal news for Chytil, but also the right move. It just stinks that he seemed to be on the verge of returning and now he’ll miss the rest of the season. His health is the most important thing and hopefully, with the pressure of a potential return off, he can get better.
As for how it pertains to this season, the Rangers will have cap space to acquire a replacement for him to center the third line. Who that is remains to be seen.
