Stats:
Adam Rotter:
- This felt like it was an “only matter of time” game for the Rangers. They were the better team and were getting stymied early by the Habs goalie, but it just felt like at some point they were going to break through, score and then win and that is what they did.
- The Rangers best guys were the ones who led them tonight. Artemi Panarin had another four point game, Mika Zibanejad had three points, Alexis Lafreniere two and another from Chris Kreider.
- I still think that the Rangers start Game 1 of the playoffs with Jack Roslovic in the lineup on the top-line, Jimmy Vesey on the fourth line and Matt Rempe scratched. We’ll see how the lineup plays out over the final four games, but I’d expect Rempe to get in at least a couple of the games. I still don’t think Peter Laviolette will trust Rempe enough to play if the Rangers are behind in the playoffs or in a close game, and unless you jump out to a big lead early, you essentially go down to 11 forwards.
- Next up are the Islanders on Tuesday.
