- The win clinches First in the Metro, First in the East and First in the League and that will give the Rangers home ice in every playoff round that they play.
- This was a game that the Rangers wanted to have and they played like it. Ottawa had some pushes, but for the most part the Rangers were the better team.
- They got the early goal and just kept going. Igor Shesterkin had to make some big saves, but it never really felt like the game was at risk of losing.
- It was a nice game for the Rangers to have not only to clinch everything, but to give them a good feeling to carry over the next few days before Game 1 on Saturday or Sunday. It would have been an awful week had they not shown up, lost everything and still had days before they could erase that feeling in Game 1.
- The playoffs start on Saturday.
