- 10 straight games with a point and the Rangers have firmly put themselves into the mix for a Wild Card spot.
- The scoreboard shows another dominant win, and for stretches it was, but unlike Tuesday when Igor Shesterkin had a relatively quiet night, the Rangers needed him to be big and he was. He stopped all 17 shots in the second period and allowed the Rangers to keep building on their lead.
- This was another full team effort on the scoresheet with half of their goals, albeit one into an empty net, from defensemen, another from Adam Edstrom and the last from Reilly Smith. The only player that you expect to score that scored tonight was Filip Chytil.
- Over the last few months there has been this focus that if Mika Zibanejad and Alexis Lafreniere get going then so will the Rangers. As important as those guys are, if K’Andre Miller really gets going at both ends of the ice then the Rangers go up another level. He and WIll Borgen have been a solid pair since being put together, but if Miller starts to find some more offense and it doesn’t cost him defensively then the Rangers are not only a different team but he firmly comes off the potential trade list.
- The Rangers end the night one point out of both wild card spots and also tied with Montreal and Ottawa with 52 points and each team playing 48 games. My hope was always that if they could win 7-8-9 in a row then they could vault back into the playoff race. Winning 7 of ten but getting points in all ten has certainly turned the focus from looking at the lottery to now looking at the playoffs again. There is still a long way to go, but when you look at how the Rangers have been playing/ who they are supposed to be and you compare that to the teams around them, it certainly looks like the Rangers are in good position. But they not only need to keep it up, they need to keep getting better.
