MSG Networks has announced that Joe Micheletti is retiring from his job as the color analyst for the Rangers after 19 seasons.
Adam Rotter: This isn’t terribly surprising. Kenny Albert and Joe Micheletti have worked plenty together over the years, but I always got the sense that when Sam Rosen left that Joe wouldn’t be too far behind. I wouldn’t have been shocked if Joe had worked a reduced schedule another year or two and then retired from the Rangers, but now is when he decided to step away.
Dave Maloney is the obvious next choice as he and Kenny have been working together for 20-years on the radio. Brian Boyle could certainly be in play but I wonder if they would put him on radio first with the idea of eventually taking over for Maloney.
