Stats:

Adam Rotter:

  • A bit of a miserable game for the Rangers and that is saying something for a team that has had a number of miserable performances at MSG this season.
  • Only 9 shots on goal ties a franchise-low, Ottawa blocked 13 and the Rangers missed the net 16 times. This game meant a lot to Ottawa and they played like and it meant nothing for the Rangers and they played like it.
  • Ottawa is a very stingy team but 9 shots is obviously ridiculous.
  • Igor Shesterkin was outstanding and kept the game much closer than it had any reason to be. The Rangers were one weird bounce from tying the game and that was entirely due to Shesterkin.
  • The Rangers won’t practice tomorrow, after a back-t0-back, so Drew Fortescue won’t play on Wednesday against Toronto. They play basically every other day until they play the Caps on April 5th. After that the Rangers have four games left. I’d hope Fortescue gets in before that time but we’ll see.
  • Toronto on Wednesday.
