The Rangers have signed 2023 Third Round pick, 90th overall, Drew Fortescue to an entry-level contract.
He’ll report directly to the Rangers and burn the first year off of his entry-level contract.
Fortescue played three seasons at Boston College, was teammates with Gabe Perreault and won two Gold Medals at the World Juniors with Team USA.
He is a left shot, 6-2, 181 and from Pearl River, NY.
Adam Rotter: The Rangers were interested in bringing Fortescue after last season at BC but he returned for his Junior year. He’s not expected to be a major point producer but more of a stay at home defenseman. The Rangers will likely follow the same plan with Fortescue that they did with Perreault last season. He’ll get in some games, likely not tomorrow or Monday but with 11 games after those two it would be nice to see him get into more than half of those. Perreault came into the lineup last year, was then scratched and then got back in. He also started this season in Hartford and it’s possible the same could be there for Fortescue. Development will be key but there are spots on the left side for the taking.
