Adam Rotter:
- Igor Shesterkin was outstanding today and allowed the Rangers to find their game in the second period and carry that over into third where Adam Sykora went to the net and tipped in his second NHL goal.
- Sykora only played 10:03 but his energy noticeable every time he’s on the ice. He’s already becoming a glue guy for this team and providing the kind of jolt of energy that they have needed, for the most part, since things went off the rails last season.
- Conor Sheary has never been my favorite player this season but he works hard and provides a veteran example for these young players to follow. Ideally someone like Sykora is able to be that kind of speedy pest that Sheary is when he’s at his best.
- The win today fully puts the Rangers into the third slot as of now. Calgary is only one point ahead but the Panthers are only four points ahead, with a game in hand.
- It’s the Devils on Tuesday.
