- New season, same 3-0 loss on Opening Night to a team wearing black and gold. Last year it was Pittsburgh at home and tonight it was Boston on the road, but it’s still a night where the Rangers don’t put the puck in the net.
- It’s the first game of the season but the Rangers looked sloppy and didn’t receive any big spark from all their new players. They did look strong at the start of the third but couldn’t convert and Boston was ultimately able beat Igor Shesterkin.
- The Rangers did not manage the puck well but Igor Shesterkin covered up a lot of it…until he didn’t/couldn’t.
- It’s only one game, the first of the season, but a good start is kind of imperative if the Rangers are going to show that they have grown beyond what they were the past two season or if they are just the same team overall but with new players. They have time to figure things out but they need a better/more structured performance, plus some goals, against Tampa on Thursday in the Home Opener.
