What Jacob Trouba said on Wednesday about Gallant, this season and more

Jacob Trouba was on the NHL Network on Wednesday and said:

  • What changed for you this past season, “I think there were a mix of a lot of things. Comfort level is something that I’ve talked about before, it takes me a little bit to get comfortable and my first few years were a little overwhelming for me, coming to New York, different city, learning how to live a different lifestyle, pretty much. Slowly it’s progressed, getting more comfortable around teammates, staff, everybody and kind of found my stride and got back to who I was as a hockey player and what makes me good.”

What Jacob Trouba, Chris Drury and Gerard Gallant said on Tuesday

6:31 PM: Gerard Gallant spoke on MSG after the press conference and said:

  • Does his leadership style remind you of anyone, “That’s a tough one. He reminds me of an Adam Foote kind of guy, competitive guy, hard working guy, played hard every shift. That type of guy, I coached Adam a little bit in Columbus, those same type of qualities, as a defenseman also. Another guy is Luke Richardson, a captain of mine in Columbus also, character, leadership, plays the game hard every night and prepares himself to play every game.”

The Rangers will have SIX alternate captains this season

6:13PM: Gerard Gallant explained the decision as “there was a lot of discussion about what I’ve had in the past, and when Dru told me you know, ultimately you’re going to make the final decision on this and that’s what I came up with so that’s what I feel very comfortable with our group and like I said there are six guys, I think they’re announced and that you guys know them. They are all legitimate captains, they are all good leaders and I just feel very strongly with this group and me being with them for only a month that we’re taking the best direction and that’s gonna help our team the most.”
