At 104, the Rangers selected RW Brody Lamb.

He was ranked 178th by Central Scouting.

He is 6-0, 161 and had 0 goals and 2 assists in 10 games for Green Bay of the USHL. In the Minnesota High School league this past season he had 52 goals and 35 assists.

He is going to the University of Minnesota.

From the Rangers, “Lamb, 17 (turns 18 years old on August 30), skated in 24 games with the Dodge County Wildcats in Minnesota, registering 52 goals and 35 assists for 87 points, along with 12 penalty minutes. He was named the Minnesota Associated Press Player of the Year in 2020-21, as he led all players in the state in goals and points. The 6-1, 165-pounder also recorded 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists) in 19 games with Team TDS Transportation in the Upper Midwest High School Elite Hockey League (UMHSEHL) and two assists in 10 games with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL). The Rochester, Minnesota native served as Dodge County’s captain this past season, and he also tallied 66 points (46 goals, 20 assists) in 22 games with Dodge County in 2019-20.”

At 106, the Rangers selected LW Kalle Vaisanen.

Rangers select center Ryder Korczak at #75

The Rangers have selected center Ryder Korczak at #75. They traded #80 and #176 to Washington to move up.

He is 5-11, 175 and had 3 goals and 13 assists in 17 games last season for Moose Jaw in the WHL.

The Hockey News lists his best case as Filip Chytil.

The Rangers are slated to have the following picks during the second day:

Rangers select Brennan Othmann 16th overall

With the 16th pick, the Rangers selected LW Brennan Othmann of Flint of the OHL.

He is 6-0, 175 and The Hockey News says that his best case is Gabriel Landeskog. TSN also mentioned Landeskog as a comparable.

2PM: Frank Seravalli tweets that Georgiev requested a trade “a while back.” He also ssays that Georgiev “wasn’t exactly known as a favorite teammate” witih the Rangers. (Daily Faceoff)

10:50 AM: Larry Brooks tweets that Buffalo’s “demands” for Eichel remain “fantastical.”

Brooks adds that the offers for the Rangers pick tonight have been “few and hardly enticing.”

9 AM: The Rangers have the 16th pick, though the 15th player selected, in tonight’s first round of the NHL Draft.

The Rangers hold two picks in the third round tomorrow, three in the fourth round and one each in the fifth, sixth and seventh.

Tony DeAngelo will be placed on unconditional waivers at 12PM today to begin his buyout process. (LeBrun)

What to expect from the Rangers this week

This week is the Seattle expansion draft on Wednesday night and the NHL Draft on Friday and Saturday.

For the expansion draft on Wednesday, the Rangers are likely to lose Colin Blackwell or Julien Gauthier.

The NHL roster freeze that began Saturday at 3 PM extends until this Thursday at 1 PM.
