Rangers trade Patrik Nemeth to Arizona

The Rangers have traded Patrik Nemeth, a 2025 second round pick and a future conditional pick to Arizona for defenseman Ty Emberson.

The conditional pick allows the Rangers to choose the Rangers 2024 third round pick or 2026 second round pick.

Patrik Nemeth NOT being bought out

The Rangers have not placed Patrik Nemeth on waivers for the purposes of a buyout.

The Rangers would have saved $1.5 million this season and $2.5 million next year, but would have had the following cap hits as a result of the buyout:

  • 2022-23: $1 million
  • 2023-24: 0
  • 2024-25: $1 million
  • 2024-46: $1 million

Larry Brooks writes in the NY Post that a buyout of Nemeth is “becoming more likely” by Tuesday’s deadline.
