Pavel Buchnevich out 4-6 weeks with broken thumb

Pavel Buchnevich suffered a broken thumb in Saturday’s win over Columbus and will be out 4-6 weeks.

Buchnevich had a goal and an assist in Saturday’s game with 2 shots on goal and a total of 15:41 of ice time.

He played 5:38 in the first, 5:18 in the second and 4:45 in the third with his last shift ending with 1:10 remaining in the game.

He didn’t take a shift in OT or participate in the shootout.

Buchnevich had points in three-straight games.

Adam Rotter: Doesn’t it seem like this is what always happens? The extremely talented but inconsistent player seems, at least in a small sample size, like he is putting things together and then he gets hurt. Buchnevich, after being scratched twice, looked like he was getting the message of how David Quinn wanted him to play and he was looking good. Now the Rangers will be without Buchnvevich for at least a month. You can only hope that when he returns he brings the same level he has the last few games.
