Flyers defeat Rangers 3-2 in shootout

10:17PM: David Quinn spoke after the game on MSG and said:

  • “In the third we came out with a lot more energy and pace and physicality. We established our forecheck, better puck management. I thought the first two periods were not great for either side. We played a lot better in the third.”
  • Why go second in the shootout, “Hank and I have talked about it and we haven’t had much luck at home lately in shootouts and Hank wants to go first. We are undefeated on the road going second…we just didn’t score. He did his part.”
  • On the World Juniors, “as a hockey fan I have a lot of interest and we have a vested interest in following our prospects. If you love hockey it’s an incredible tournament. I’ll spend time watching and following and paying attention to our prospects.”
  • Do you think you are staying with the five forward PP, “you’ve watched it the way that I have…kaboom.”

10:06PM: Henrik Lundqvist spoke after the game and said that the Rangers battled well and he thought they would pick up the two points. “We gotta start winning here if we wanna be in the race.” He said that the last 2-3 games have been a step in the right direction and give the team a better chance at winning.
