Alex Georgiev to start against the Avs tonight

7:14PM: Kevin Hayes WILL NOT play tonight for the Rangers and is day to day with an upper body injury. (NYR)

5:44PM: Alex Georgiev will start for the Rangers as they travel to Colorado to begin a road trip.

Georgiev came in during the third period of Wednesday’s loss to the Pens.

Henrik Lundqvist took the blame for Wednesday’s loss saying that it was probably his worst game and that against the Pens he “couldn’t find it for some reason.” (NY Post)

Lundqvist said that despite two tough games before Wednesday he wasn’t going to use that as an excuse for his performance. (NY Post)

David Quinn said after Wednesday’s game that the loss was on him and that he shouldn’t have started Lundqvist after those prior two games.

Quinn called it a “huge mistake on my part putting him in that position. Two intense games in Nashville and St. Louis and he shouldn’t have played. That is certainly way more on me then it is on him.

On Thursday, Lundqvist reiterated that it was on him and comes down to how he executes. He noted that he won’t be perfect every night and that you need to find ways to be energized and focused. (Newsday)
