1/11/19 | Pending UFA Mats Zuccarello has 4 goals and 11 assists this season in 30 games.
Zuccarello, who is expected to be traded by the deadline, told Larry Brooks recently that his situation has impacted his on-ice performance. (NY Post)
He said that the last few weeks have been emotional for him and said “I have been here for nine years, and I am human.” (NY Post)
Zuccarello added, “I know I have a job to do, and I am going to do my best for as long as I’m here. I don’t want to let anyone down.” (NY Post)
Pierre LeBrun writes in The Athletic that the Avs could be a fit for Zuccarello and notes that Colorado has Ottawa’s third round pick to potentially offer.
He was ranked 11th on TSN‘s Trade Bait board in mid-December and 14th on The Athletic’s list of 20 players that could be moved.
Adam Rotter: At this point it’s just a matter of when Zuccarello gets traded and how close it is to the actual deadline. He’s a rental but he has a ton of experience and can be a difference maker offensively, especially on the PP. I think the Rangers best bet with Zuccarello may be to send him to a team willing to offer up a conditional pick or two that increases in value based upon how far the team goes. At the very least the Rangers will get a third-round pick for Zuccarello, maybe a late second, but in a crowded market with a lot of underachieving teams, he may not fetch all that much more.
