David Quinn met with the media following the win and said (NYR):

  • On Strome and Buchnevich, “we’ve talked about this before, goal scoring can be streaky and they are in the middle of two pretty good streaks. They are being rewarded for all the other things they are doing to put themselves in this position to score goals and it’s good to see.”
  • On Buchnevich, “I’m happy for him, no matter how it happens this is a guy with a lot of talent and has come a long way in the last four months and I am really happy for him. He should be a 20-goal scorer, 30-goal scorer in this league and it’s fun to watch people grow and get better.”
  • How is Buchnevich, “he’s fine, he should be good for tomorrow.”
  • On sitting Brendan Lemieux, “He’s played a lot of minutes, I think his game has slipped a little bit, it’s really been a drastic change since he came over from Winnipeg. Just felt it was probably in his best interest to sit him out and put him in tomorrow, tough to go back to back with all the minutes he’s played and the drastic change in his role.”
  • On Georgiev, “easy would be wrong word but this was a lot more manageable game for him. We defended a lot better in front of him, a lot more structured, wasn’t nearly the amount of running around we were doing in St. Louis, did a pretty good job defensively but he also stood tall when he needed to.”
  • Do you know the goalie rotation after Henrik tomorrow, “still to be determined.”
  • On Brendan Smith getting four penalties, “probably not a good time to ask me that, you don’t ever want to see a guy take four penalties so I’d lean toward infuriating but I want to watch the penalties again, sometimes things happen but four is a little bit excessive.”
  • On Ryan Strome, “he’s earned his role, when we got him he was playing wing and he moved back to center which is his natural position, he’s a right shot, smart player, this is a guy that has had 50 points in this league. We knew we were getting a player that could contribute offensively and I just think he is taking advantage of the opportunity and earned more of one for himself. He’s got a good brain, puts himself in good position and shift in and shift out, great personality, infectious in the locker room, there is a lot we like about him.”
  • On Howden missing on a breakaway but making a great pass, “I think he can be both, I thought he had a really strong game, one of his better games and a pretty good game against St. Louis too, I’ve liked the jump in his play over the last week.”
