The latest on the Rangers and potential trades

6/21/19 | 8:23AM: The Sabres remain interested in Jimmy Vesey, according to Pierre LeBrun, but they are also looking at other options as well.
6/20/19 | 8:06PM: On TSN, Bob McKenzie said the following about the Rangers:

  • “Keep an eye on the Rangers, they have already acquired Jacob Trouba. Chris Kreider’s is very much out in the trade front as is Jimmy Vesey. The Rangers are shuffling their deck and trying to make some things happen.”
  • “There are going to be negotiations with Jacob Trouba, lots of speculation that something will get done on a long-term deal, probably in the seven-year with an $8 million AAV or there abouts. Not done by any stretch of the imagination but that seems to be the target number that a lot of people think Trouba’s contract with the Rangers, when it’s done, would come in at.”

TSN‘s Frank Seravalli said that there is “no shortage of interest so the likelihood is certainly there that potentially Jimmy Vesey and Chris Kreider could go.”

He added that Kreider could be attractive to a team in a “cap crunch” and that “teams are banging down the door” to get a guy like him. (TSN)

Larry Brooks wrote earlier this afternoon that the Rangers and Kreider’s agents had not yet had “substantive” conversations about a contract extension and that the “feeling” is that the Rangers may trade him. (NY Post)

Elliotte Friedman said on NHL Now this afternoon, “I think there is definitely some interest in him, I’ve heard Colorado is a team looking at Kreider. I think there is a lot of interest in Kreider out there.”
