Georgiev in net against Columbus, DeAngelo OUT

7PM: Staal is in the lineup.

6:12PM: David Quinn said before the game (NYR):

  • “DeAngelo will be out tonight and Staal will be a game-time decision.”
  • Does Joey Keane go in automatically, “He’s part of the Staal decision.”
  • What do you know about Joey Keane, “we liked him an awful lot in training camp, skates real well, competes, has good puck skills and the thing I think he has done a good job of down there, from all the times that I’ve talked with Kris Knoblauch and Drury, he’s really honed his game. There is a simplicity to his game that maybe there wasn’t early on in his pro career because when you have that much offensive ability and you’ve been a puck carrier and puck mover and guy who has been involved offensively, you try to do it at this level and there is an adjustment to make.”
  • On tonight’s game, “we have 20-something games left and these guys aren’t stupid, they realize the situation we are in, they feel good about the way we’ve been playing and each other. It’s a game we need to continue to play well and give us a chance to win.”
  • Are you concerned long-term about DeAngelo, “no. This is going to be short-term. Upper-body injury towards the end of the third period.”
  • On Shesterkin, “closer, much closer.”
  • Could he have played, “No. I shouldn’t say couldn’t of but the right thing to do is not play him.”

5:45PM: Alex Georgiev will make his second straight start tonight when the Rangers play the Blue Jackets. (NYR)
