Hartford traded goalie Tom McCollum and Lewis Zerter-Goasage to Lehigh Valley for future considerations.
The Rangers have acquired AHL goalie J-F Berube from the Flyers for future considerations.
From the Rangers release:
- Berube, 28, has appeared in 29 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, posting a 12-11-4 record, along with a 2.56 GAA, a .906 SV%, and 3 SO. He is tied for fifth in the league in shutouts in 2019-20, and he has allowed two goals or fewer in 15 of his 29 appearances this season.
- The 6-1, 177-pounder has appeared 197 career AHL games over parts of eight seasons, posting a 111-66-13 record, along with a 2.49 GAA, a .909 SV%, and 11 SO. Berube helped Manchester win the Calder Cup in 2014-15; he led the AHL in wins during the regular-season (37), played in the 2015 AHL All-Star Game, and posted a 13-3 record in 17 playoff appearances.
- Berube has also appeared in 34 career NHL games over parts of three seasons with the NY Islanders and Chicago, posting a 9-10-4 record.
Adam Rotter: This is almost certainly for depth in Hartford and not an indication of anything else. Hartford has been relying on rookie Adam Huska and since Igor Shesterkin isn’t going back down, except maybe for Hartford’s playoff run, Berube can shoulder part of the load.
