What David Quinn said after the loss to NJ

David Quinn spoke after the Rangers loss to the Devils on MSG and said:

  • On the game, “This is kind of what we have done all year, unfortunately this is who we’ve been. There isn’t much to talk about, they were better in every capacity. Want is a very important characteristic in this sport. We played a team that wanted it much much more than we did.”
  • Are you alarmed that they wanted it more, “it’s not surprising, because this has happened to us way too many times. That being said, they have played a lot of good hockey for a long team, they have been a hard team to play against for two months now. I don’t want to take anything away from them because this isn’t just something they did tonight, they’ve been doing it for awhile, that being said, to really get outplayed as badly as we did in every capacity is alarming.”
  • Was Shesterkin rusty, “Maybe a little bit of all of that, but that being said the goaltender was the least of our problems tonight. I don’t think we had one guy have a good night tonight.”
  • Are you annoyed, ticked off, disappointed, “disappointed. Disappointed, that being said one of the things we talk about when things are going well is, we have to move past it and we have to move past this. We are going on a road trip here. Our season is not over by any stretch of the imagination, we gotta get over this and get ready for Dallas. You want to put forth an effort night in and night out. When we lost to St. Louis we felt bad for our players because there was a legit effort and purpose. Tonight, if you lose you want to feel bad because you play the right way, had a great effort, with the right intentions but there was none of that tonight. I don’t know if we were still excited about what happened against Washington and MIka’s five-goals and there was such euphoria about the game and building was rocking and all those things. I don’t know if we didn’t get over it, but it’s disappointing.”
  • Did you feel you had a good first, “we didn’t feel good at all after that first period. It was nice to be up, don’t get me wrong, but we didn’t feel good at all about how things were going in the first period even though we were winning 2-1.”
  • Did you feel Shesterkin would be rusty whenever he came back, “Yes, regardless.”
  • Will you consider putting Panarin and Mika together, “probably be game to game.”
