What David Quinn said after the loss to NJ

David Quinn met with the media on MSG following the loss to NJ and said:

  • Was this an opportunity wasted, “Any time you play in the NHL you have an opportunity to get two points, regardless of who you are playing and we let another opportunity slip from our hands, to get two points and give them a lot of credit, they played well.”

  • Was effort an issue tonight, “Yea.”
  • Is this a harder loss for all that NJ has gone through, “I’m not paying attention to the opponent when we are evaluating our team, I’m just disappointed in some of the things that went on from our end tonight, a drop off in a lot of areas. Just not good enough.”
  • On Trouba’s injury, “We won’t know until tomorrow.”
  • On the defense without Trouba, “Yea, obviously guys are playing with different partners and the minutes get escalated, so that might have had something to do with it, but our defense wasn’t the problem in the third period, our defensemen, I mean.”
  • Why didn’t momentum carry over after the Buchnevich goal, “A lot of things that happened tonight and you wonder why. We are in a situation where we haven’t won an awful lot, we have to understand the different between winning and losing and what you need to do to do it. You’d think we would have generated some momentum getting that goal at the end of the second and it just didn’t happen, a lot of things didn’t happen tonight for us.”
  • How will the effort issue be addressed, “It will be addressed at practice and before practice and after practice and before we play Philly.”
