The LA Kings have announced that they have signed Phillip Danault to a six-year deal worth $5.5 million per season.
Danault had been mentioned as someone the Rangers might have interest in
Adam Rotter: So this has a few ripple effects. One, is that Danault obviously won’t be coming to the Rangers. Six-years and $5.5 million is a lot for someone who is best suited to be a middle-six center and I don’t think the Rangers were interested in that long a contract and for that much. Second, LA is now out for good on Jack Eichel. There always seemed to be a debate on whether LA was really in on Eichel or whether they were linked because of LA’s prospect pool. Third is that LA now has a lot of centers in their organization and not a lot of spots for them. The Rangers, if they are willing to trade any of their defense prospects, would be a logical trade partner for one of LA’s centers.
