8/3/21 | The Rangers have announced that John Lilley has been named Director of Player Personnel and Director of Amateur Scouting.

Lily has been with the Maples Leafs since 2006-07.

With the Leafs he was:

  • Amateur scout from 2006-07 to 2015-16
  • Director of Scouting, United States Scouting from 2016-17 to 2017-18
  • Director of Amateur Scouting from 2018-19 to the present.

He played two seasons at Boston University in 1991-92 and 1992-93and played 23 NHL games over three seasons with Anaheim.

Adam Rotter: He is the first big hire for Chris Drury’s front office. He played at BU a few years before Drury, but it’s not unreasonable to think that they have a connection through that. The Rangers were without a Director of Player Personnel after Gordie Clark transitioned out to be a “pro scout and advisor, amateur scouting” prior to this season and without a Director of Amateur Scouting as that was believed to also fall under Clark.
