Stats:
- Well, it’s five in a row, but the Rangers season seems like it will hinge on whatever is wrong with Igor Shesterkin.
- Alex Georgiev made some nice saves in relief and he’s going to start tomorrow, but until he finds consistency in his game he is going to be a question mark.
- The Sharks dominated the first few minutes but the Rangers found their game, got the only goal and won the game. Igor Shesterkin made some big saves, but the Rangers were the better team for most of the game, the second period wasn’t much either way, and in the third period they had the puck most of the time. They did Alex Georgiev a solid by playing a lot of his first few minutes in the San Jose zone.
- Maybe most importantly, this was a game where the Rangers had a lead for almost the whole game and defended it pretty well. They’ve been defending leads lately and there is no doubt that they are a better team than the one that was blowing leads earlier in the year.
- Again, five in a row is great, but we have to see what is going to happen with Igor Shesterkin. The Rangers can manage a few days to weeks, but if Shesterkin is out for any time longer than that then they could be in trouble.
- They have their next two against a Chicago team that has been playing better as of late.
