3:05 PM: Seattle has traded Mark Giordano to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Giordano had been connected to the Rangers as a possible trade deadline acquisition.
Adam Rotter: With just under 24-hours to go before the deadline, the Rangers options on defense are dwindling. Ben Chiarot went to Florida earlier in the week, Hampus Lindholm went to Boston and signed an extension and now Giordano is off the board. Giordano always made the most sense out of the three since he was a veteran and the Rangers are still lacking experience, especially on defense. Both Chiarot and Lindholm went for really high prices and that too is what made Giordano a more appealing option. It was believed that Giordano’s preference was to go to Toronto, where he’s from, so unless the Rangers were going to go overboard with an offer, chances are they weren’t going to get him.
