Copp was on TSN and said the following about signing in Detroit, Was Detroit always your top choice, “I think it was in the top group. I really enjoyed my time with the Rangers and there were a couple of other teams I was looking at, but at the end of the day, the chance to go home, play with a close buddy of mine Dylan Larkin and kind of try and help this rebuild that is well on it’s way.”
On ESPN, Copp was asked how much he spoke with the Rangers and said, “Not too much, honestly. An offer really never came in. I think they kind of were looking in a different direction which might fuel my fire just a little bit, to be honest with you, but I’m looking forward to making my stamp in Detroit.”
