Gerard Gallant met with the media following the loss to Detroit and said (MSG):
- On the game, “We came out real flat in the second, start of the second for sure. Those two goals, the old problem is giving up the odd-man rush and it bit us again tonight.”
- On the line changes, “brewing a little bit, for sure. Trying to shake things up a little bit, see if we can wake a few guys up.”
- On moving Kreider to the fourth line, “He deserved to be where he was at….he wasn’t alone.”
- On Halak, “He was great, gave us a chance to get that point, for sure. He was outstanding.”
- On the third period, “It was better, a solid, good third period both ways, we had some good chances to get good offensive zone plays, but we just don’t manage that puck too well sometimes. The odd-man rush chances against, we just seem to gamble too much in the o-zone, but we made some real good plays in the 0-zone also.”
- The main issue is turnovers, “for me it is, turning pucks over and not enough people coming back and giving up 2-on-1s, 3-on-2s, the breakaway, plays like that.”
- On Zac Jones’ play in the third, “Murph runs the D, I don’t know. I don’t think he’s hurt, I haven’t heard anything. But I’ll let you know tomorrow.”
- You said that you want them to play fast, how fast did they play, “When did I say that?” (Last week) I want us to play fast, but it just doesn’t seem to be working as good.”
- On the penalty on K’Andre Miller in the third period, “I thought it was a bad call.”
