2022-23 Rangers Regular Season

What Gerard Gallant said after the loss to the Ducks

Gerard Gallant met with the media following the Rangers loss to the Ducks and said (NYR/MSG):

  • On the flurry of shots in the third, “we played really well, we hit five goal posts and crossbars and had lots of opportunities and Gibson, obviously, stood on his head. I can’t fault the performance, disappointing we don’t get any points out of it, but we played hard, played well, if you play like that you are going to win a lot of those games.”

  • On facing great goalie performances, “that is part of the game. We’ve done that plenty of times too, with our team and our goaltending. It’s the way he played, played good and just got to bury a few of those chances, we weren’t as sharp as we could be, but, again, we played well.”
  • Can you take the big picture look at this road trip of going 2-1-1-, “it’s fine, it is what it is. You get back and would have liked  to have won tonight or got a point at least, but it didn’t happen, so worry about the next game.”
  • On Halak still not getting his first win, “he’s disappointed with that. He didn’t get much work, but I’m sure that second goal he’s not happy about, obviously. You stay with it, he’s a veteran guy, he’s won a lot of hockey games in his career and we’ll get some wins for him.”
  • Are you glad to be heading home, “real glad, real happy.. It was good, back-to-back game finishing off the trip, but we’ll get back home and get back at it.”
  • On the shot discrepancy between the teams, “no doubt, we created a lot of offense and I thought we played well.”
